[Lurking in the shadows of Cross Academy, pacing as he waits for Zero so the night's work can begin.
He desperately wants more tablets but he has to space them out...he has to have control. He's nothing without it. But the hunger is so strong tonight...the bloodlust sings through his veins.]
Come on, come on...

Come on, come on...

And it's that partner he now seeks as he switches his focus from the dull monotony of daily studies to the sharp awareness of a Hunter. He soon catches him by one of the walls.
It's not going to be one of their better nights from the look of things... ]
Kaitou.

Zero. Where were you?
no subject
... Studying ran late.
[ He pauses, unsure whether he should say the other thing on his mind. Then again, there's no point to beating around the bush when the evidence is right in front of his face. ]
Are you sure you're up to this tonight?

[Said in a flat tone that allows no argument. How many times have they been over this, anyway...?]
Busy night ahead. We should get started.

Zero hates "fine," but "fine" is still better than the alternative. He signs and checks Bloody Rose. ]
Three new names on the list.

[Kaito's voice is still even and calm, a habit born of long practice and struggle reining himself in. Control is everything, after all. Still, his eagerness for the hunt is betrayed in the brisk, eager pace he sets as he heads out of the Academy's grounds. No need to check his gun; it's always ready.]

Two of them are ranked high.
[ Read: more prone to causing collateral damage. ]

[It's not as certain as that, of course, but Kaito has faith in their combined skills. Anyway, for all that Zero's gotten better at putting his finer feelings aside, Kaito still remembers that wide-eyed kid who couldn't even shoot a rabbit for dinner. A little reassurance never hurt anyone.]
But. Start with the easy one first?
no subject
That'll let us save up our strength for the other two. And we might as well pick him off before he becomes a bigger problem.

[Leading the way to his car, which is an old clunker with license plates that are easily changed -- in case a civilian sees something they shouldn't.]

It looks like one of them frequents the bars in the shopping district, about fifteen minutes away.
no subject
[He beeps the doors open and waves Zero around to the front seat.]
Well, all the shops are probably closed at this time of night, so maybe it won't be too bad.
no subject
I can't believe you're complaining about parking of all things...
no subject
[Starting up the car. 8|]

It's a problem when you can't find where you parked, because it was a fifteen minute walk through all these damn narrow streets that look exactly the same and form non-Euclidean shapes.
no subject
[ The tone is laced with both amusement and incredulity, the absurdity of the topic making Zero temporarily forget why they need a parking spot in the first place tonight. ]

[ Snorts ]
Just drive the car.
no subject
[The drive doesn't take too long, and luckily for them the streets are empty tonight. Kaito parks in a shadowed alleyway that's two blocks away from their target's favorite haunt.]
no subject
[ Sliding out of the car, senses immediately going into alert, as he tries to determine whether their prey has been adventurous tonight. He also can't help but let his gaze slide back to Kaitou once or twice, evaluating his condition. It was instinctual more than anything, he being a Hunter and Kaitou being... well, more than just that. ]
no subject
[Kaitou's movements are quick, precise, and controlled as he slides out of the car and locks the doors. Still, they can't hide the brief flash of red in his gaze as his eyes fix on the bar of their target's choice, nor the way every line of his body is longing to start the chase.
But he stays where he is.]
no subject
We'll find him soon enough.
[ And with that, he starts making his way to the rogue vampire's favorite haunt, senses now focused entirely on separating Kaitou's vampiric aura from any others around them. It should be fine once Kaitou gets his kill. That usually manages to sate... him for a while.]
no subject
One thing's for certain. Like this, with the hunt thrumming in his limbs, he can't be trusted in a crowd of drunk humans. Of prey.]
I'll circle around back.
no subject
I'll see if I can't flush him out.
no subject
And I'll keep an ear out for trouble.
[He veers away from Zero, heading for the dark alleyway behind the bar's squat brick building.]

But he's so hungry. He almost hopes the vampire will be stupid enough to flee. Then the kill will be his, and maybe he can sate this need while sparing Zero the shot.]
no subject
Zero had hoped that vampire would be less obvious once he noticed him, but the frantic way the vampire had forced aside other patrons and any impeding furniture quickly spurned that hope. It had been good timing too since that vampire had already been in the process of chatting up one of the younger patrons and making side-glances toward the door for a more "private" discussion. Fortunately for her and less fortunately for Zero, Zero's reputation well preceded him and his quarry knew who he was the second their eyes met across the barroom. He can only imagine what everyone else thought to see a grown man racing from a schoolboy. Zero didn't even bother with excuses. If there was a problem, the association could deal with it once they brought down their target.]
